As a lesser-known and untrusted brand outside of Sweden, we needed to create a global brand platform that would increase awareness and penetration in key global markets, making it one of the most famous and beloved brands in the category.

So, we developed a campaign that pays homage to smart shoppers everywhere and helps them shop (and pay) even smarter with everything Klarna has to offer. The campaign is all about signs of intelligence. Some signs are as small as chess pieces, while others are as big as rockets. But they can all be used to make a big splash.

To make such a big splash and generate maximum brand awareness with their first international campaign, we thought it appropriate to go big with the logo—really big—stretching it to the edges of the margins in every composition. To communicate the idea of intelligent shopping, the Pay Smarter badge was developed as a secondary graphic element just for this campaign. This graphic took inspiration from UI elements, like buttons and search bars, to call back to the digital nature of the product’s touchpoints.
